Black Hills continues to reach new heights under Director of Winemaking Ross Wise MW, most recently ranking as the seventh-best winery in Canada at the National Wine Awards. This blend of Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon was the first white wine produced by Black Hills back in 2003, and with the 2021 vintage it’s transitioned into something both complex and textured.
You don't see a lot of Sauvignon Blanc planted in the Okanagan. It's the fifth-most planted white variety in BC, lagging well behind Pinot Gris and Chardonnay and even passed by Gewurztraminer and Riesling. But when it's done well, the result is something decidedly Next World.
Tasting Note
A blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc and 15% Semillon, this shows the ripeness of the Black Sage Bench, with a combination of guava, tart gooseberry, and grapefruit, accented by a textured richness from lees aging. Bright and vibrant, there's a lovely purity to the fruti, all framed by thoughtful winemaking.
Food Pairing
