Blue Mountain has become synonymous with high-quality BC sparkling wines. Year after year, they skillfully produce some of the finest sparkling wines in Canada, consistently setting new standards while maintaining remarkably reasonable prices.
This Brut Rosé is sourced entirely from their Okanagan Falls estate, comprising 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay, and is hand-harvested at relatively low yields. Labelled as R.D., meaning recently disgorged, it has spent 30 months on lees and was disgorged in August 2021. Aged for additional years in the bottle, it reveals elegant yet expressive fruit with a precise, refined mousse.
Tasting Note
Year after year, the Brut Rosé is a personal favourite in the Blue Mountain portfolio, and the 2019 may be my favourite vintage yet. It's always very moreish in style, but the cooler 2019 vintage has yielded an elegance and class that elevates this to another level. Pale salmon in colour, this shows stylish, crisp strawberry and red apple framed by a toasty autolytic character from 30 months on lees. Although this has a higher dosage than other Blue Mountain sparkling wines, it's beautifully balanced in a dry, Brut style that finishes long and chalky.
