Florian Mollet 2021 Sauvignon Blanc

2021 Sauvignon Blanc

Florian Mollet

Val de Loire, France | $32.40

Florian Mollet brought his experience from South Africa and Australia to the Loire Valley when he took over his family’s domaine in 2000 with one goal: to become one of the great estates of Sancerre. And he had the terroir to do it, with Clos du Roc de l’Abbaye vineyard belonging to his family since 1850.

It’s hard to believe this Sauvignon Blanc isn’t from Sancerre. Until you look at the price, that is. It’s an exceptional value that reflects the vision and talent of Mollet. We'd say he's well on his way to achieving his goal.

Tasting Note

This shows zippy grapefruit and gooseberry fruit with subtle tropical accents. The mouth-watering acidity is nicely balanced by the concentrated, textured palate, with some influence of lees. Tasted blind you've be forgiven for mistaking this for Sancerre.

Food Pairing

A classic pairing is with goat cheese produced in the same area – Valençay – served with apricot compote and almonds.
