Brda, Slovenia | $41.99

Slovenia is a small yet diverse country in the heart of Europe, home to three main wine regions—Podravje, Posavje, and Primorska—shaped by Alpine, Mediterranean, and Pannonian influences. The country is known for its exceptional white wines, including Rebula, Sauvignon Blanc, and Šipon (Furmint), as well as its growing reputation for reds and traditional-method sparkling wines.

Ribolla Gialla, an ancient white grape traced back to the 13th century, is one of the key varieties in Brda, a subregion of Primorska. It thrives in the hilly border area known as Goriška Brda, where Opoka soil—a mix of marl, slate, and sandstone rich in minerals—provides ideal growing conditions. The microclimate, shaped by cold Alpine winds and the warmth of the nearby Adriatic, supports slow ripening, making this versatile grape well-suited to both crisp, fresh wines and traditional orange styles with skin contact.

Tasting Note

Opening with poached pear, quince blossom, fresh apple, and meadow flowers, the smooth, zesty palate finished with a saline minerality. A harmonious and highly drinkable expression of the region’s signature grape.

Food Pairing

Serve as an aperitif or pair with sushi.
