Terralux Estate Winery is a new premium producer with a winery and restaurant set to open next year in West Kelowna. They have already produced several vintages, with the first three crafted by Marcus Ansems MW, a veteran Australian-born winemaker who also owns Daydreamer Wines on the Naramata Bench. The cellar has now been placed under the supervision of Kevin Rossion, a Belgium-born viticulturist-winemaker.
Hailing from the esteemed Black Sage Bench in Oliver, the 2018 Syrah was fermented with indigenous yeast and gently pressed using a traditional basket press. It was then aged for 11 months in French barriques, resulting in a dark-fruited red wine with well-defined varietal characteristics and savoury nuances.
Tasting Note
Bold and pure, this compelling Syrah reveals alluring scents of ripe Okanagan cherry and luscious blackberry, layered with cracked black pepper, sagebrush, smoked bacon, and violets. With a fleshy, medium-full body, it shows a seamless balance of silky tannins and refreshing acidity, leading to a long, vibrant finish.
